When the No-Smoking legislation was first introduced a few years ago many people were sceptical if it would work, they thought the public wouldn’t support it – well time has proved that it has worked – and worked well.

But how can you support your staff?  The ones that can now be seen huddled in office doorways in all types of weather, the ones that disappear for 10 or 15 minutes at a time for a ‘quick puff’ while the rest of their colleagues continue working?

Well, during October, thousands of people are taking part in Stoptober – a new, exciting 28 day challenge to stop smoking.

There’s lots of free support to help people along the way – and the great news is that by stopping smoking for 28 days, you are five times more likely to stay smokefree!  Check out the official website http://smokefree.nhs.uk/stoptober/

Why not place a poster on the staff notice-board, post something on your Intranet, send round a staff email, but most importantly let your staff know that you are supporting the Stoptober Campaign.

With many smoking alternatives available such as nicotine replacement chewing gum, nicotine patches, electronic cigarettes, as well as complimentary therapies such as acupuncture and hypnotherapy, hopefully your staff will soon be smokefree and back at their desks!
